Mental Health & Wellbeing
At Tardebigge First School, we believe that mental health and wellbeing are just as important as academic learning. A healthy mind allows our pupils grow personally, academically and spiritually. That’s why we are building our school culture around four key elements that support wellbeing for everyone in our community: Gratitude, Social Connections, Respect, and Trust.
Gratitude
Gratitude has a powerful impact on mental health. By practicing gratitude, our pupils and staff can nurture happiness, reduce anxiety, and improve resilience. Gratitude also helps to enhance sleep quality, increase optimism, and foster stronger, more positive relationships. At our school, we encourage daily opportunities for reflection and appreciation to help everyone see the value in themselves and others.
Social Connections
Strong, supportive relationships are the foundation of wellbeing. Positive social connections promote happiness and can protect against the risks of mental health problems. By fostering friendships and building a caring community, our school helps pupils feel supported, valued, and included. Through teamwork, collaboration, and shared experiences, we strengthen the bonds that keep us connected.
Respect
Respect is at the heart of how we learn and grow together. When individuals feel respected, they experience greater self-worth, stronger belonging, and healthier relationships. Respect reduces feelings of isolation and builds a culture where everyone feels safe to be themselves. At Tardebigge First School, we celebrate diversity, listen to one another, and create an environment where kindness and compassion thrive.
Trust
Trust is essential for a safe and supportive community. It reduces stress and anxiety, encourages openness, and allows pupils and staff to take positive risks in their learning and relationships. At our school, we nurture trust by being consistent and supportive in all we do. Trust helps us grow stronger together and ensures that everyone feels secure and valued.
Our Commitment
By embedding Gratitude, Social Connections, Respect, and Trust into our daily school life, we are creating a culture that prioritises wellbeing and mental health for all. Together, we are building a community where every individual can both grow and shine spiritually, personally and academically.
