IT and Computing
At Tardebigge CE First School we teach the IT and Computing curriculum through the Rising Stars scheme. We aspire and encourage the cross-curricular use of IT and Computing in all curriculum areas. Online Safety is an intergral part of our Computing curriculum and we embed this across all areas. Please see our E-Safety page for more information about this.
Our Vision for IT and Computing
Computing is an integral part of everyday life and will play an immeasurable part in our children’s futures. Tardebigge CE First School aims to provide our children with the skills, creativity and enthusiasm to live and thrive in a world increasingly dependent on computing. A high-quality computing education equips pupils to use computational thinking and creativity to understand and change the world. Throughout this teaching; all stakeholders in our community will model how to use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly.
We aim to enable all our staff, pupils, parents and carers to be confident, competent and independent users of ICT. We aim to use ICT where appropriate to motivate and inspire children; raising standards across the curriculum.
Vision for Children: We aim to develop every child’s ICT skills, knowledge and understanding through taught Computing lessons but also provide opportunities for all to apply and consolidate their abilities across other curriculum areas. Each child will be able to use the Internet in a safe and respectful way. They will understand the necessary precautions to take in order to stay safe and know where to seek help. . Building on this knowledge and understanding, our pupils are equipped to use information technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Children will be Computing also ensures that our pupils become digitally literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
Vision for Staff: Our well trained, skilled and motivated staff encourage children to develop initiative, independent learning skills and celebrate success. They are confident users and teachers of all relevant software and hardware available; teaching the Computing curriculum in an environment with clear access and well-managed ICT resources. We use IT and computing to empower staff to work more efficiently, creatively and effectively to improve their teaching and the assessing of the pupils in their class.
Vision for Parents: We strive to ensure you are fully informed of the Computing learning taking place in school through the school website and blog pages. We hope parents feel comfortable in discussing Computing issues including Online Safety with their children due to the support and frequent workshops held by school.
Vision for Leaders and Governors: We aim to keep pace with educational developments in ICT and commit to teachers having the necessary tools to do their jobs properly. We will strive to ensure that the use of ICT funding is well considered and that its impact is consistently evaluated.
