Thank you to everyone who could make our Gold Star Inn Nativity play. We are so proud of all that the children have achieved and thought their performance was wonderful.
Literacy- The children have been writing their letters to Father Christmas to post on Tuesday when we go on our Smart Trees trip. We have been encouraging the children to say their sentence first, then sound it out and write the words and then to check their sentence. We have been talking about using a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, finger spaces between the words and a full stop at the end.
Maths- The children have been making repeating patterns when making paper chains and filling in the missing numbers from 10-20.
Phonics- This week we have been learning the phoneme for the grapheme er (short sound- farmer, sister, brother) and learning to read the tricky words 'her' and 'all'. We have also been practising reading and writing captions for pictures.
The children have also been busy making calendars, Christmas cards and decorations which I'm sure you will enjoy when they are sent home next week.
PE kits should now have been sent home as we have finished our PE sessions. We have also had our last Welly Wednesday session which we celebrated with hot chocolate!
Next week it is our Smart Trees trip on Tuesday (wrap up warm and bring a disposable packed lunch-in a carrier bag) and Party Day on Thursday (wear party clothes and decorate your lunchbox with tinsel and baubles).
Have a fun and festive weekend Reception!
