Week ending 6th January

Welcome back and Happy New Year!

We hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas break. We have loved hearing about all of your exciting holidays from the children this week. They have come back so settled and now we cannot wait to begin our new topic 'Living in a Land So Cold' on Monday.

This week the children have really enjoyed exploring with the ice in the outdoor area and playing in the penguin small world play, reading the Phase 3 graphemes on the penguins stomachs.

Literacy- The children have been writing all about their Christmas holiday. I have been ever so impressed with the children's sounding out when writing their words.

Maths- We have been practising finding out one more and one less this week and have even looked at how to record this as a number calculation e.g  4+1=5 4-1=3

PE- We have begun a dance unit and this week we created different shapes for icicles and told a story through dance about the icicle melting. We will continue practising putting our actions to music next week and will perform these dances in front of our friends.

Have a super weekend and see you on Monday!
