Thank you to those parents who were able to attend the end of our Jack and the Beanstalk banquet. The children thoroughly enjoyed the whole day, preparing the food in the morning and dressing up in the afternoon. We loved all of your costumes too!
Literacy- On Monday we planted some magic beans in the classroom and throughout the week we have watched the beanstalk grow across the classroom! It must have been that magic water we used too! The children then had a go at writing about the beanstalk.
Maths- The children have been practising counting in 10s and adding 1 more to numbers to 10. We talked about what a plus symbol looks like and used our arms to show this symbol. We also practised saying number calculations out loud.
Understanding the World- The children planted their own bean plant (broad beans) in a plastic cup and decorated a castle in the hope that their mini beanstalk will grow all the way to the top! We talked about what plants need to grow such as water and sunlight.
Welly Wednesday- The children loved going on an Autumn walk collecting their favourite leaves. They then used these to create an Autumn bracelet on double sided tape and did some super leaf rubbings!
Baking- We baked some very delicious jam tarts and practised weighing out the different ingredients and reading a recipe. We also talked about the importance of food hygiene.
We are so proud with how well the children have got on during their first half term at school. We hope you have a marvellous half term holiday and make sure you get lots of rest!
