Yet another busy week and Christmas is fast approaching!
Maths: In Maths we have continued our work on subtraction. We have looked at subtraction stories and then worked on the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction.
In phonics, we have continued our work on phase 4. We have been looking at compound words such as desktop, starlight, lunchbox, sandpit etc. The children were amazing at hearing all the sounds in the words, especially when they used their robot arms.
RE: We continued working on our understanding of the Christmas story and have been re-telling and recording it in a variety of ways.
We have done some science talking about the seasons and how snowflakes are formed and art about snowflakes. The children cut out their own snowflakes to create a display, ‘We are all as unique as snowflakes’. Let’s hope we get some snow this year as some children were saying they hadn’t ever played in real snow. The children have begun investigating materials.
This afternoon we had a visit from England International hurdler Joseph Hylton and Julian Goelly, a British triple jumper. Each child had their photo taken with Jospeh and did some exercises. He did a whole school assembly in the church about his training, inspiration and perseverance. He kept saying, “Never give up”.
We have continued to practise our play and the children increasingly impress us with their speaking and singing! Next week we will be practicing on the stage in church. Please remember to send in your child's Christmas Play costume on Friday 1st December. We will be having our dress rehearsal on the following Monday afternoon so will need all costumes!
Next Friday the School Council have organised a Christmas Treat Sale in which they invite children to bring in a small donation to buy a delicious Christmas treat baked or decorated by children in school. This is in aid of Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Next Wednesday, it is the Tardebigge Trek so please bring in your wellies and warm clothing!
Have a really wonderful weekend and see you all on Monday.
