Well, what can I say; we have all been blown away with how brilliantly the children did with the phonics screening this week. The children were amazing. They used robot arms and remembered digraphs, trigraphs and split digraphs, blending brilliantly. You should all be proud of them. J
On Monday we had a rugby session with Jamie from Worcester Warriors and the children really enjoyed it. Jamie will be training us over the next few weeks. On Friday we had a special visitor – baby Sophie (and Mrs Woodhouse!) Sophie is now 21 weeks and we noticed lots of changes. She is much more alert, looking at us all, smiling and making lots of noises. She performed her new trick which is rolling on to her tummy and then back on to her back. It is lovely to see how she has changed and developed every month.
English: We have read the first few pages of ‘The Perfect Pet.’ We wrote our own page from the book, for example; What George wanted more than anything else in the whole wide world, more than chocolate, more than football, more than a bike, more than reading, was a beautiful cat. We also thought about our own perfect pet, we drew these and labelled them.
Maths: We have worked on halves and quarters this week, the children have completed worksheets for both ½ and ¼ and they have amazed us with their knowledge! We designed our own pizzas using different toppings on each half or quarter. On Friday we had a real treat in the classroom as we used pizza to visualise these fractions and then we were ‘really’ allowed to eat our own fraction of pizza!
RE: Mrs Medlicott discussed a Christian Baptism; she brought in Ethan and Katie’s outfits, photographs, candle and certificates from their Baptisms. The children thought about Bertie bear’s Baptism and what we need to arrange and organise this. The children made lists of things we need to do before the event.
Hope you have a lovely weekend. Have fun.
