I was so proud of the children in our play on Tuesday and the dress rehearsal on Monday, they were amazing. They showed such confidence; acting, singing and talking in a packed church. Well done everyone. Mrs Medlicott and I were also impressed with the children’s behaviour during all the practices and rehearsals as well as the real thing. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and loved the way the children contributed their own ideas and lines to our performance.
We had the traveling theatre production of Jack and the Beanstalk on Monday afternoon which the children enjoyed. We have continued with making Christmas cards and calendars and have also been practiving our cutting skills which is an important skill that some children seem to find quite tricky.
Maths: In Maths we have completed our work on sposition and begun our numbers to 20 unit of work. This follows the same formate as the work we did back in September to 10 but just up to 20. In Maths no Problem they teach numbers up to 20 as having a full ten and then 4 more which is 14, we group objects into 10 then count on holding the 10 in our heads. We have also ordered Christmas items into small, smaller, smallest and big, bigger, biggest, some children went on to write other ‘size’ words they could think of such as huge, massive etc.
English: The children wrote about the Christmas Play, the character they were, any lines they had and their favourite part of the story. The early part of the week was spent performing our play, speaking confidently and clearly to an audience.
We have another busy week coming up, Wednesday is Christmas jumper day and Christmas dinner on Wednesday, party day on Thursday - remember we still go outside for playtimes so sensible footwear and warm enough clothes and on Friday we have our carol service with some of our favourite songs from reception, Key stage 1 and key stage 2’s productions.
Have a wonderful weekend Year 1 only 5 more get ups until the Christmas holidays.
