Welcome to Year 1
A Rainbow of Opportunity
'Human potential is without limit if we are motivated and engaged.'
We believe that children should experience life in all of its fullness (John 10:10).
With a growth mindset, you can do anything.
I will be posting weekly news and updates on this page so please check regularly. We also have a Year 1 class blog that is updated each week with what we have been doing in school. Please read and share this with your child.

Reading: The children should be reading at home 10 minutes every night. Please record when your child has read in their reading diary and team points will be awarded for reading 5 times a week. They could read their Guided Reading book, a home reader or a book from home. The key is to read little and often. Please question your child when reading to develop their comprehension skills.
Spelling Shed - Spelling Shed can be played as much as you see fit! Assignments will change weekly based on our Phonics learning in school. There will also be a continuous assignment based on Common Exception Words (tricky words that can't be sounded out).
We are currently revising Phase 3 Phonics, here is the list of sounds we have been learning.
